Northern Utah Shows Enthusiasm for International Business at WTC Utah Forum
More than 100 business and community leaders gathered in Logan for the International Business Forum
SALT LAKE CITY, UT – (May 13, 2015) The Riverwoods Conference Center in Logan, Utah was filled with more than 100 business and community leaders today who came together for World Trade Center Utah’s (WTC Utah’s) Northern Utah International Business Forum.
The forum provided participants with tools, knowledge and resources to help them navigate the international business realm as they look to expand their companies internationally. Derek B. Miller, WTC Utah president and CEO, was the keynote speaker. He emphasized that, in today’s world of increased connectivity and decreased regulations, every business has potential to be an international business. With 95 percent of consumers located outside of the U.S., there is plenty of reason for companies to go global, and WTC Utah is available to assist.
“Knowing how to capitalize on opportunities means knowing how to mitigate risks,” said Miller. World Trade Center Utah is here to help companies evaluate export readiness and to connect them with the right people who can support them as they grow internationally.”
Partnering with the Utah Department of Workforce Services (DWS), WTC Utah hosted the forum in Cache County in an effort to expand its services to new parts of the state. Today’s forum was the third of four that will take place between November 2014 and July 2015 at various locations around Utah as part of WTC Utah’s rural outreach efforts.
The Department of Workforce Services provides resources to job seekers, employers and community leaders in Utah. DWS has a physical presence through its more than 30 employment centers located around the state and numerous programs that help communities grow their economy.
During the forum, awards were presented to a Utah-based company and individual who are succeeding in international business and positively impacting Utah’s economy. The following company and individual received awards:
Storm Products Inc. received the 2015 World Trade Center Utah Vanguard in International Business Award
Paul D. Campbell of Campbell Scientific received the 2015 World Trade Center Utah Champion for International Business Award
