Northern Utah Companies Honored at World Trade Center Utah International Business Forum

More than 100 business leaders gathered in Brigham City today to talk about exporting

Brigham City – World Trade Center Utah (WTC Utah) hosted its second annual Northern Utah International Business Forum today at the Academy Center in Brigham City. At the event, two Northern Utah companies, Autoliv and Hycomp, were honored with awards and attendees were addressed by Lt. Governor Spencer J. Cox.

“It is a pleasure to honor Autoliv and Hycomp for their success in expanding internationally,” said Derek B. Miller, World Trade Center Utah president and CEO. “Their efforts to grow globally have a multiplier effect on the economy as they experience increased sales and hire more employees to keep up with demand. We are excited to be in Northern Utah sharing how exporting can help companies, the community, and the state prosper.”

WTC Utah presented the Vanguard in International Business Award to Hycomp for its outstanding work in exporting. Hycomp, founded in 1969 and based in Hyde Park, Utah, is a manufacturer of modern oil-free gas and air compressors. Pratt & Whitney, Nestle, Astra Zeneca, and British Petroleum are among Hycomp Inc.’s clients.

The Champion for International Business Award was presented to Autoliv for its outstanding impact on the business community. Autoliv employs approximately 1,400 people from around the greater Brigham City area. With 55 percent of its revenue coming from international sales across nearly 20 countries, Autoliv exemplifies what it means to be a champion for international business.

In addition to the keynote by the Lt. Gov. Cox on how to elevate Utah’s economy through international trade, attendees had the opportunity to hear from a panel of successful local exporters including Paul Campbell with Campbell Scientific, Corbet Austin with Storm Bowling, Craig Parry with Parr Brown, Frank Reid with iGlobal, and Becky Johnson with the Utah Office of Tourism.

“It is exciting to see Northern Utah companies interested in and enthusiastic about exporting,” said Lt. Gov. Spencer J. Cox said. “This region of our state holds a lot of untapped potential for the growth that comes through taking products internationally. Attending these forums is the first step for companies to gain access to the millions of potential customers that exist outside of the U.S.”

More than 100 local business leaders from Box Elder, Cache, Rich, and Weber counties attended the Northern Utah International Business Forum.
