Spotlight on Sudan

Driven by escalating civil war, displacement, and collapse of essential services, Sudan is enduring one of the most severe humanitarian crises in recent memory. The conflict has significant implications throughout Africa and the Middle East with increasing involvement from major global players. Despite the turmoil, there are opportunities for meaningful engagement from the international community.

On August 12, we heard from Sudan’s Ambassador to the United Nations Al-Harith Idriss and gained firsthand insights into the region’s current crisis. In partnership with the Stirling Foundation, this event also included a moderated Q&A session, giving Utah business and community leaders a unique opportunity to learn directly from one of Sudan’s most senior leaders about the conflict, its regional implications, and how Utah organizations are engaging to provide relief to the Sudanese people.

This event was hosted in partnership with the Stirling Foundation, the Baskerville Institute, and the Hinckley Institute.
