Representing the state of Utah and some of its most notable industries, a trade delegation of nearly 100 individuals traveled to France and the United Kingdom — two of Utah’s largest trade markets.
Organized by the World Trade Center Utah and the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO), the Utah delegation of 41 Utah businesses and organizations participated in 83 engagements and other business-related activities in just five days. To build on the existing strength of Utah’s relationships with both countries, Governor Spencer Cox engaged in meaningful industry and policy discussions, B2B meetings, and private meetings with regional and national leaders.
Meanwhile, the Utah delegation separated into as many as seven industry tracks to maximize their time on the ground. The business tracks included bilateral government exchange, life sciences, and consumer goods, with two tracks that broadly focused on innovation. There were also three policy tracks for the Unified Economic Opportunity Commission (EDC Utah): growth and transportation, nuclear energy, and technology, innovation, and investment.
The connections developed during this trade mission opened doors to tremendous material opportunities for Utah businesses with French and British partners, along with fellow Utahns and delegation members. Wander, a destination mapping company, participated in many highly impactful meetings with the Utah Office of Tourism, gaining industry insights they would not have uncovered otherwise. Albion Fit, a fitness and leisure apparel company, met with CBRE, London & Partners, and explored prospective retail areas in London. More successes from the trade mission will be actualized in the coming months and years.
