Utah Trade Delegation Travels to Europe to Elevate Global Partnerships and Boost Trade
SALT LAKE CITY, UT (June 16, 2023) — Gov. Cox is leading a delegation of 41 Utah businesses and organizations on a trade mission to France and the United Kingdom from June 19-23, 2023.
Paris and London are ideal entry points into the multi-billion-dollar market between Utah and Europe, serving as international hubs for finance and innovation. The United Kingdom is Utah’s biggest trade partner — in 2022 alone, exports from Utah to the U.K. exceeded $7 billion. While the U.K. has long been a bustling hub for international commerce, it is making a renewed effort to be open for business with the U.S., particularly states like Utah, in the post-Brexit economy.
France is Utah’s second-largest trade partner in the European Union and home to the Paris Air Show, the largest international aerospace show in the world. The trade mission will take place in conjunction with the show, where 10 Utah aerospace companies will exhibit in the state booth. With France’s 2030 investment plan to transform its top industries, such as transportation and healthcare, there are ample opportunities for Utah companies to forge innovative and ambitious partnerships.
During last year’s governor-led business trip to Mexico in April and trade mission to Israel, Qatar, and the UAE in September, the Utah delegations participated in nearly 150 meetings and garnered a combined $52.2 million in New Trade Opportunities for the state.*
The state of Utah’s trade missions and shows are organized by the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity and World Trade Center Utah.
*New Trade Opportunities (NTO) = $ Actual Sales and/or Sourcing + $ Prospective Sales and/or Sourcing + $ Actual Investment for Utah businesses resulting from trade and/or investment activity and as reported by businesses in client impact statements.
