President’s Message — February 2021

Last month, World Trade Center Utah’s Executive Committee voted unanimously to elect Ambassador Jon Huntsman as the Chair of World Trade Center Utah.
It was an easy decision, and one that brings WTC Utah and Ambassador Huntsman full circle. While serving as Utah’s 16th Governor, Huntsman saw an opportunity for Utah to play a larger role in the global marketplace. Working with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and influential business leaders across the state, Huntsman founded WTC Utah.
We are to take the organization to even greater heights as we fulfill our important mission to accelerate growth for Utah companies and to make Utah the crossroads of the world.
Having served as the board chair for 12+ years, Zions Bank president Scott Anderson shares that “Ambassador Huntsman’s unparalleled international expertise, extensive business experience, and substantial role in founding WTC Utah uniquely qualify him to serve the state and Utah business community in this capacity.” As we all know, Scott has done more than anyone to build the organization to what it is today, helping tens of thousands of Utah companies along the way. And despite all of his service in the trenches and his very many commitments, Scott has graciously agreed to continue to serve on the executive committee.
Though we continue to push through the pandemic – Utah’s international economic outlook is strong. Thanks to the great leadership we enjoy in the state, the WTC Utah board with Huntsman as chair, the phenomenal WTC Utah team, and our many partners and businesses across the state that are engaging internationally, I can’t think of a state better stacked to compete and win internationally in the months and years ahead.
Towards that end, we are more focused than ever on calibrating all aspects of our services and programming to accelerate growth for Utah companies.
