Derek B. Miller Statement on President Trump’s Changes to Cuba Policy

SALT LAKE CITY – World Trade Center Utah (WTC Utah) President and CEO Derek B. Miller released the following statement about President Trump’s revised Cuba policy:

“Just last month I was on a fact-finding mission to Cuba with my colleagues at the Salt Lake Chamber exploring opportunities for Utah companies if the U.S. embargo was lifted. I marveled at the resourcefulness of the Cuban people and was intrigued by the potential for collaboration between Utah and Cuba in areas such as tourism, exporting and infrastructure development,” said Derek B. Miller, president and CEO of World Trade Center Utah. “While there is virtue in President Trump’s focus on human rights, the best way to accomplish that goal is through building relationships and increasing mutual understanding, not through isolating policies and posturing.”
