International Business Development Specialist

The World Trade Center Utah (WTC Utah) is a 501(c)6 Organization that is dedicated to helping Utah companies “Think, Act and Succeed Globally.” We accomplish this through our three primary objectives:

  1. Motivate and educate Utah businesses to expand their global presence.
  2.  Build capacity of Utah businesses for international trade.
  3.  Expand global network of Utah businesses through trade missions and networking with foreign trade officials.

Position Overview:

The WTC Utah is seeking a proactive, collaborative and hard-working individual to manage inbound international business investment opportunities (Foreign Direct Investment – FDI) for the State of Utah.

The international business development specialist will support and coordinate with the trade services functions of the WTC Utah as well as with our key economic partners in the State of Utah. These partners include the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, the Economic Development Corporation of Utah and the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce.

Skills, Experience and Attributes:

  • A bachelor degree (master degree preferred) in business, economics, political science, international relations or related fields
  • 2-5 years of experience in relationship management
  • Basic understanding of FDI best practices
  • Experience working with businesses and business service providers
  • Collaborative, organized, detail-oriented, takes initiative and is a problem solver
  • Strong and effective communicator (both verbal and written)
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask with few errors
  • Consistent demonstration of responsibility and initiative
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

Job Duties:

  • Research, identify and build relationships with potential FDI leads through inbound trade missions, international trade missions, international trade shows and other opportunities
  • Research, identify and build relationships with key FDI/international business recruitment firms and individuals
  • Develop a process framework for how the state can best manage FDI leads in collaboration with key economic partners
  • Utilize online trade/business databases to provide market research and analysis on international business opportunities to Utah companies
  • Become familiar with Datamyne, USATrade online, UniWorld, BMI, and Hoovers
  • Generate market research business reports through comprehensive data analysis
  • Coordinate follow-up efforts with domestic and international businesses and economic partners
  • Update and maintain CRM software as it pertains to FDI opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned

Annual Salary:
$40,000 – $50,000 Competitive Employee
